Hearing Test in Nambour

Book a Hearing Test for Nambour Residents

Nambour is the hinterland's hub town — home to the C-Square shopping precinct, the Nambour RSL Club, the railway station, and the gateway road up to Mapleton, Montville and Maleny. It's also home to Nambour General Hospital, and we want to be clear from the outset: we are an independent hearing clinic based on Bulcock Street in Caloundra, with no affiliation to the hospital or its services. If you're after a general community hearing assessment rather than a hospital-referred appointment, we welcome Nambour residents to make the roughly 35-minute drive down to see us.

What a Hearing Test Involves

Set aside 45–60 minutes for your visit: a conversation about what you've noticed, painless diagnostic testing in a controlled setting, and clear, plain-language results before you leave. No referral or obligation is needed to book with us. See the full breakdown on our Comprehensive Adult Hearing Assessment page.

Comprehensive Hearing Services

Our Caloundra clinic provides diagnostic hearing assessments, tinnitus discussions, hearing aid fittings and ongoing device support for Nambour residents, along with the CASA-accredited aviation hearing assessments Linda Whittaker is known for across the region.

Hearing Assessments

Nambour patients are welcome at our independent Bulcock Street clinic for a single visit covering the full assessment and a clear explanation of your results — a separate service from Nambour General Hospital's own hospital-referred care.

Getting from Nambour to Bulcock Street

Budget around 35 minutes via the Bruce Highway and Nambour Connection Road — a fairly direct run, mostly highway. Nambour has its own railway station, which is worth knowing if you'd prefer not to drive, though it's worth noting the Caloundra clinic itself isn't directly on the rail line, so you'd still need a connecting trip or drive once you arrive in town. Many Nambour and wider hinterland patients treat the visit as part of a broader coastal day out rather than a single dedicated trip.

An Independent Alternative to Hospital-Based Services

Nambour General Hospital offers its own audiology and hearing-related services for patients who've been referred through the hospital system. Our clinic operates completely separately — we're an independent, community-based practice, and there's no formal connection between us and the hospital. If you're simply after a general hearing check rather than a hospital-referred appointment, or you'd like a second, independent opinion, booking with us on Bulcock Street is a straightforward option, with no referral required and no need to go through the hospital at all.

Your Hearing Test Trip from Nambour

Booking a hearing test from Nambour is simple. Choose a time that suits your travel, and allow about an hour at the clinic. Free parking is available nearby and the entry is level. Bring your Medicare card, any referral, and a list of your medications.

Should your results show hearing loss, everything is explained in plain English by our Qualified Audiometrist. We can discuss hearing aids if they would help, and Hearing Services Program options for eligible pensioners and DVA card holders. Booking takes a phone call or a minute online.

Hearing Tests via the Hearing Services Program

We're a contracted provider under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (HSP), so eligible Nambour residents — Pensioner Concession Card holders and DVA Gold or White Card holders — can access subsidised hearing assessments and related services with us. A Commonwealth Seniors Health Card doesn't qualify on its own, a common point of confusion, so bring your card and we'll check eligibility electronically on the day. Full detail is on our Hearing Services Program guide.

About Your Hearing Care Professional

Every hearing test is carried out by Linda Whittaker, a Qualified Audiometrist with over 20 years of experience and ACAud accreditation. Linda's approach is unhurried and independent, explaining your results and options clearly, without pressure, whether you've come from Nambour itself or further up the range.

Hearing Test FAQs — Nambour

Is there a hearing service at Nambour General Hospital I should use instead?

The hospital offers its own services for referred and inpatient needs. Our independent Bulcock Street clinic is a separate, unaffiliated practice for general community hearing assessments and is booked directly with us.

Is the drive from Nambour worth it?

Many hinterland and Nambour-area patients make the trip as part of a coastal day out, treating it as a combined outing rather than a single-purpose journey.

Can I get to the clinic by train?

Nambour has its own railway station; the Caloundra clinic itself is not directly on the rail line, so a connecting trip or drive is needed from Caloundra's town centre.

Information on this page is general in nature. A professional hearing assessment is required for individual advice. Always read the label and follow the directions for use. Hearingcare is an independent practice with no affiliation to Nambour General Hospital or Queensland Health.

Ready to Take the First Step?

Whether you're experiencing hearing changes or simply due for a check-up, we're here to help Nambour residents with professional, independent hearing services.
