With a university campus at its centre, Sippy Downs has a genuinely different noise profile to the rest of our patient catchment: regular headphone and earbud use, loud share-house living, casual hospitality or retail jobs, and — for some students and staff — recreational noise exposure from gigs, festivals or nightlife. None of that means damage is guaranteed, but persistent ringing (tinnitus), muffled hearing after a loud night, or needing subtitles on more than friends do are all reasonable prompts to get checked, at any age. It's about a 20–25 minute drive, so if you don't have a car, carpooling with a housemate or checking public transport connections ahead of time is worth doing before you book.
If you've noticed a child asking for repetition often, sitting close to the television, or struggling to follow instructions in noisy settings like a classroom, it's reasonable to raise this with your GP or with us. Early attention to children's hearing concerns is generally recommended.
