Three things drive the price. First, the sophistication of the sound processing — how well the device separates speech from background noise. Second, the features included, such as Bluetooth streaming, rechargeability and app control. Third, what the clinic bundles into the price. That last one matters more than most people realise. Two quotes for the "same" hearing aid can differ by hundreds of dollars. One includes fitting, follow-up adjustments, a multi-year warranty and ongoing aftercare — the other doesn't. Can pensioners get free hearing aids through the Hearing Services Program?
